Mack Dobbie was born and raised in the South Lyon area. After receiving a BFA from the College for Creative Studies, he worked as a graphic designer for a small gift and stationery company in Dexter, MI. Later transitioning to Interaction and User Experience design, he is now working in the mobile space.

In his spare time, Mack enjoys drawing, creating digital illustrations, and photography. As a commissioner on the South Lyon Cultural Arts Commission, Mack hopes to help give local artists of all mediums a venue to showcase their work, and share knowledge with one another.

I’ve been an artist since I was young.  Bribed by my aunt, I threw away my pacifier to the frogs in the field behind my house to receive my first paint set at four years of age.  After that being an artist took off in leaps and bounds as I volunteered throughout high school to create posters and flyers for school and church events.  I studied art in college receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and went on to become a freelance artist.  I created patient publications for my place of employment and set up employee art shows.  Eventually I worked as an art teacher for public schools, community education programs, alternative high school, senior homes and libraries.  I was the president of South Lyon Fine Arts Society for six years and during that time developed new programs for the club.  I’ve shown in multiple places as part of a group and as a solo artist.  I’ve demonstrated techniques with the Art Train, La Casa and garden walks.
