Cultural Arts Commission of South Lyon Mission Statement:
The mission of the Cultural Arts Commission of South Lyon is to encourage, facilitate, present, and promote visual and aural art forms in the
City of South Lyon so as to benefit and enrich the city and its residents.

Ken Michalik
Chair
Kenneth G. Michalik has over 30 years experience in the fields of advertising and graphic design. He has won over 35 regional, national and international awards in such areas as print, direct response and advertising. He has a BFA from Bowling Green State University and a MA from Eastern Michigan University. Former clients include MCI Friends & Family, Harman International and Chrysler’s Dodge brand. Presently, as a college faculty instructor, Michalik incorporates his real life experiences into his teaching philosophy and he inspires his students to reach their employment goals with creativity and commitment to the global environment.

Linda Ross
Vice-Chair
Linda Ross grew up in Salem, attended South Lyon schools, where she graduated, and has lived in the community most of her life. Linda became a member of the South Lyon Area Historical Society in 2004, and became President in 2010, where she has served for the last 15 years. In her spare time, Linda enjoys baking, various art and craft projects, gardening, and roller skating with her husband and friends. She is also a member of the Livingston County Photography Group, and does floral arrangements for her church

John Hogan
Commissioner
John Hogan has lived in South Lyon for over 27 years and is the Banking Center Manager at the Comerica Bank here in South Lyon. He has been the manager at this location for the past 6 years. John was the South Lyon East Band Booster president for 4 years and Cub Master for Pack 236 for 4 years.
In his spare time John is a Murder Mystery Pro with the Murder Mystery Company performing various shows with an interactive Clue style show that customers are immersed in a thrilling murder mystery dinner experience. John is also a volunteer with the Yankee Air Museum where he works on the ramp during air shows. He is the Treasure for the Lyon Events Organization a local group the helps put on the Kite Festival in Lyon Township.
Melissa D’Angelo is a lifelong creative with a strong background in the beauty and arts industries. Melissa chose South Lyon as the place to raise her family and has been here for 5 years. Her hobbies include gardening, live music, and anything outdoors.
With years of experience as a professional makeup artist and a Compliance Auditor, Melissa has built a career around transforming ideas into visual expression.
Melissa is passionate about cultural enrichment and believes in the power of the arts to connect communities, inspire dialogue, and celebrate diversity. She brings both her creative expertise and her collaborative spirit to the Cultural Arts Commission, where she is committed to supporting opportunities for artistic growth and fostering inclusive access to the arts for all.
Melissa is excited to contribute to uplifting local talent, expanding cultural opportunities, and ensuring that the arts remain a vital and celebrated part of community life.
